The City of Peru was awarded $97,687.00 Safe Routes to School grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation. With this project, the city will be adding and replacing sidewalk on the west side of Shooting Park Road, beginning at Parkside Middle School, across Cedar Lane and ending at Sycamore Street.
The program helps to support projects that make walking, biking and rolling to school a safe option for students. Administered by IDOT using federal funds, Safe Routes to School advances projects that improve safety and reduce traffic in areas around schools, grades kindergarten through high school.
