Christie began working for the Peru Police Department as a full-time telecommunicator in 2003 while in the Criminal Justice program at IVCC. In September of 2016, emergency dispatch services were consolidated to limit the number of PSAP’s answering 911 calls within the county. Peru PD had to eliminate their dispatch positions and an entirely new entity, Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch, was created. Christie began working for IVRD and was with them until July of 2021 when she was hired back on the Peru Police Department civilian staff as a dispatcher/records clerk. When she is not at the front window, you can find her tending to any number of the animals at her miniature zoo or off on an adventure with her husband and two boys.
