Schweickert Stadium at Veterans Memorial Park is home to the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp, a collegiate wood-bat summer league baseball team! The Pistol Shrimp are one of 17 teams in the historic and highly competitive Prospect League that spans 7 states across the midwest from Iowa to Pennsylvania.
In the Spring of 2023, improvements were made Schweickert Stadium to include a bigger grandstand, new press box, and 577 new seats.
Improvements to Schweickert Stadium are particially made possible through the generous donation from the Doug and Rorie Schweickert Charitable Trust.

Join the Pistol Shrimp For An Action Packed 2025 Season!
Your Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp will open the Prospect League's 56 game season on the road at the Clinton Lumberkings on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. The Shrimp return to Schweickert Stadium in Peru, Illinois for their Home Opener on Friday, May 30, 2025 as the reigning Prospect League Champions, with their first weekend game the next night on Saturday, May 31st. This season's schedule finds the Shrimp at home for 27 games, and includes five weekend series, and two extended road trips to Johnstown, Pennsylvania and Jackson, Tennessee. The Pistol Shrimp close out the regular season at home on Thursday, July 31, 2025, against the Clinton Lumberkings.
A robust line up of theme nights is planned to provide family friendly entertainment in an inclusive environment. Highlights include the debut of Bingo Night, as well as Sensory Friendly, Halloween in July, Bark in the Park, Polish Night, Salute to the Military, Paint the Park PINK and more.
Two specialty jersey nights are planned: Championship Celebration on June 5th which includes players' autograph alley and Championship Banner unveiling. The Pistol Shrimp Foundation will also be auctioning off special edition Championship bats. First Responder Appreciation is June 17th, featuring Touch A Truck, K-9 Demonstration and Life Flight helicopter landing. Preorder information for both specialty jerseys will be posted on social media and the online merch store.
New this season in addition to pre-game live music several nights are two full 3-hour post game concerts. Brushville will be playing from 7 pm - 10 pm on Country Night June 21st, and legendary local band 303 will play a full show from 7 pm - 10 pm on Rock the Park Night, July 12th. Youth Clinics featuring instruction by Shrimp Players and Coaches for ages 9+ are scheduled for 6/17, 6/18, 6/24, 6/25. New sessions for pitching/hitting have been added this year for ages 13+. SouthClaw, the team's lovable mascot, will again be hosting his Kids Club. Registration for Clinics and Kids Club will be posted soon on social media and PistolShrimpBaseball.com.
A new group outing space has been added at Schweickert Stadium along the 3rd base line. The James Hardie Party Zone accommodates Group Outings of 25 or more and includes food and beverages.
