Electric Mobility in the City of Peru
Electric bicycles, electric scooters, and other motorized personal transportation devices are becoming more common throughout Illinois. The State of Illinois provides the legal framework governing the use of these vehicles, including where and how they may be operated.
To ensure consistency with state law and to address local safety concerns, the City has adopted an ordinance regulating bicycles, low-speed electric bicycles, snowmobiles and personal mobility devices. This Ordinance is designed to promote safe use, protect pedestrians and motorists, and clarify rider responsibilities within the City.
