ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT
APPRENTICE LINEMAN
The City of Peru Electric Department is currently seeking applicants for an Apprentice Lineman. This position requires the ability to construct, install, repair, maintain and relocate overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems, including conduits, power cables, vaults, manholes, wires, transformers, circuit breakers, switches, service drops, streetlights, traffic signals and utility poles. The program is a four-year series of progressive training positions that include coursework and some travel for field training.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and possess a valid Illinois Class A CDL. Candidates must also possess the ability to climb wood utility poles using linemen’s hooks; interpret circuit maps, blueprints and work orders; learn basic electricity; and operate, maintain and repair electric industry equipment, tools and hardware.
Candidates with a more extensive electrical background are encouraged to apply.
Full-time position with competitive salary and excellent benefit package. The starting rate of pay for this position is $42.53 per hour.
