The Planning/Zoning Commission was created to ensure that adequate provisions are made for the preparation of a comprehensive Vplan for the guidance, direction and control of the growth and development of the community. The Planning/Zoning Commission is tasked with the preparation of regulations, projects and programs pertinent to the development, redevelopment and renewal of the municipality, and to perform certain other functions and to consider appeals from decisions of a zoning administrator, applications for zoning variations, amendments and special uses and to perform certain other functions.

Meetings
The Planning/Zoning Commission meetings are open to the public and held on Wednesday's as needed in the Council Chambers of the Peru Municipal Building, 1901 4th St. 

Public Hearings are held when a property owner requests zoning entitlement actions such as a request for annexations, a Planned Unit Development, zoning, Special Use permits and zoning variances. Notice is provided to advise the community that public comment is being accepted before a decision will be made at a formal public meeting.
