Functions of the advisory board include:
- Advise the city council on matters relating to the administration, operation and conditions of recreation programs
- Advise the city council on matters relating to facilities, including the recreation buildings, splash pad, playgrounds, and other park facilities and equipment
- Discuss and advise the city council on issues referred to the board by the city council
- Assist the director of the parks, recreation and special events department and other staff on developing and maintaining comprehensive recreation programs and opportunities for the city residents.
